Combustible Cladding Replacement

HOW SAFE IS YOUR COMMERCIAL PORTFOLIO?

Many commercial property owners are reviewing their fire strategy and building compliance in light of the tragic events at Grenfell in June 2017. The aftermath of this event has meant legislation surrounding the use of combustible materials is under severe scrutiny. There is particular concern over the use of Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) panels.

Do you need to replace cladding on your building?

In buildings over 18m with combustible panels, clients are recommended to replace the panels and at the same time must review the whole section of their building to ensure appropriate fire strategy. Many buildings have been found to not only have combustible panels but also not have the appropriate infrastructure behind the panels to prevent fire spread.

In buildings under 18m and buildings without combustible panels, some of our clients have opted to review their fire strategy, simply removing the panels and ensuring the correct cavity barriers and fire stops are in place alongside revisions to exit strategy.

“The vast percentage are choosing to change the panels in their entirety for an aluminium flat panel located to the existing supporting system and install new cavity barriers.”
